大都会艺术博物馆收藏超过100万件素描与版画作品，这些脆弱的纸质作品无法长期暴露在展厅的光线环境中，因此多存放在博物馆库房。为了尽可能让参观者欣赏到这些作品，博物馆开设「馆藏素描与版画展」，每年更换4次展品，每次展出约100件作品。
本次展览的主题为「新收购的作品」，展品类型风格多样，涵盖法国「飞尘技法」（aquatint）铜版画、德国巴洛克和新古典主义时期教堂内景画、梅森瓷器厂样本书、各种奢侈品餐具设计图等。
为配合馆内的「马奈/德加」特展，展览还将以素描和版画作品为媒介，探讨18世纪末至19世纪初的法国巴黎社会阶级对立问题。
其他展出作品包括法国宫廷画家 antoine coypel 和 françois boucher 的作品；当代艺术家 gego、marcel broodthaers 和 raven chacon 的作品；战后艺术家 stanley whitney、sam gilliam、mcarthur binion、tunji adeniyi-jones 和 helen frankenthaler 的版画作品。
