约翰内斯·维米尔（johannes vermeer），17世纪荷兰黄金时代的杰出代表，享有世界级的声誉与地位，同时因存世作品稀少闻名，目前仅能确认35幅真迹，本次大阪巡回展展出其中的6幅。
静谧的空间中流淌着神秘的紧张感，独特的质感仿佛捕捉到光线的粒子，维米尔因此也有「光之魔术师」的昵称。本展的东京展在2018年举办后获得高度关注，而需要注意的是，大阪巡回展中有1幅真迹是东京所没有、仅限大阪展的展品——《情书》（the loveletter）。
除了维米尔的6幅作品外，本展还会呈现同时期荷兰绘画的其他画家的作品，介绍17世纪荷兰绘画的扩展与独创性。
